Dosing/ qhr during the day and q2hr in pm. q4hr when improved. Later tid or qid. Taper.

Class Ketone based, phosphate corticosteroid. (solution)
Action Anti-inflammatory. Inhibits phospholipase A2 blocking both arms of inflammatory cascade.
Usage Indicated for allergic conjunctivitis, acne rosacea, superficial punctate keratitis,
herpes zoster keratitis, iritis, cyclitis, some infective conjunctivitis when benefits outweigh
risks. Chemical, radiation, thermal and penetrating cornea injury.
Poor penetration compared to suspension so generally used for surface inflammation.
Contraindications Acute superficial herpes simplex keratitis, fungal keratitis; acute infectious stages of
vaccinia, varicella and most other viral diseases of the cornea and conjunctiva. Tuberculosis
of the eye. Hypersensitivity to any component.
Pediatric use Safety and effectiveness in children have not been established.
Pregnancy Animal reproductive studies have not been conducted with prednisolone sodium phosphate.
